A Weazel News reporter’s van was stolen while covering a shooting in the upscale Vinewood Hills area late Tuesday afternoon, leading to a chaotic scene that ended with the vehicle being totaled.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when Weazel News reporters were on site to cover an ongoing investigation into a shooting that left at least one person injured. As the crew was setting up for a live report, an unidentified suspect, described as a light-skinned individual wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and a pink pooh shiesty mask, allegedly jumped into the news van and drove off.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect speed away from the scene, with the Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) immediately pursuing behind. Officers quickly initiated a pursuit, which culminated in a brief standoff in a nearby residential area. The LSPD subdued the suspect shortly thereafter.
Unfortunately, the chase resulted in the Weazel News van being damaged beyond repair, as officers attempted to block the vehicle's path. The total cost of the damage is yet to be determined.
“The safety of our crew is our top priority,” said a Weazel News spokesperson. “We are grateful that no one was harmed during this incident and appreciate the swift action of the LSPD.”
Bystanders walking nearby expressed their shock at the unfolding events. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said Sandra Gomez, a local resident. “One minute, there were reporters setting up, and the next, there was a guy driving off with their van. It’s insane!”
Another bystander, James Mitchell, added, “This area isn’t usually like this. It’s really concerning to see such chaos here, especially with everything that’s been happening lately.”
As of now, the identity of the suspect remains unknown, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding both the shooting and the theft of the news van. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The shooting that initially drew reporters to the scene has left the community shaken, as violence has surged in several areas of San Andreas in recent weeks. The LSPD has increased patrols in the Vinewood Hills area in response to public concerns about safety.
Investigations are ongoing, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
