A Los Santos Transit bus crashed into an apartment building in the 900 block of Strawberry Ave. in the Chamberlain Hills neighborhood of Los Santos.
The LST bus, carrying four passengers, collided with the front of a two-story apartment building and a streetlight. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus appeared to lose control after a car ran a red light, cutting off the bus driver. The driver swerved to avoid a collision, resulting in the bus losing control and crashing.
Emergency services responded promptly, with multiple police and fire crews on the scene within minutes. The bus driver was treated for moderate injuries and transported by fire crews, while two passengers were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
“People are always speeding down Strawberry; it’s like a racetrack! The cops, too—they should be enforcing the law, but they are speeding, too,” Estrella Lopez, a resident of a nearby apartment building, told Weazel News.
The apartment building, home to several families, sustained minor structural damage. Residents were evacuated as a precaution, and the Department of Building and Safety was called to assess the building's structural integrity. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the occupants inside, and officials deemed the building safe to occupy.
The LSPD is investigating the collision and searching for the other driver involved. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
