A devastating fire claimed the life of a person at a mobile home late Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of Marina Dr. in Sandy Shores.
Fire crews from the San Andreas Fire and EMS quickly responded to the 600 block of Marina Dr. for reports of smoke and fire showing from a structure, which was later determined to be a mobile home.
Upon arrival, they encountered a fully involved fire and began immediate suppression efforts. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control in about 40 minutes, but tragically, the victim was found unresponsive inside the home.
The individual, whose identity has not yet been released, was located by fire crews and determined to be beyond medical help. Authorities have confirmed that no other occupants were inside the mobile home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed any further details as they work to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the blaze.
Local residents were left in shock as they gathered outside the scene, offering condolences and awaiting updates on the tragic incident. Investigators are continuing to assess the property and interview witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the deadly fire.
“I knew that guy, Marty,” a neighbor told Weazel News. “He was always nice to me when I’d see him when I was out walking my dog. We just talked about how he was going to his brother’s house for the holidays.”
This fire serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of house fires, and local authorities are continuing to emphasize fire safety as the winter season progresses.
