A devastating fire ripped through 'Hector’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetables' on Tuesday afternoon, completely destroying the beloved fruit stand located in the 600 block of Senora Way. The stand, just a quarter mile from the Palmer-Taylor Power Station, had been a go-to spot for local customers before the blaze.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the stand shortly after the fire ignited. Firefighters from the San Andreas Fire and EMS arrived quickly, but the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the stand in minutes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as workers and customers managed to evacuate the immediate area safely.
The loss of the fruit stand has left many in the community in shock. Local resident Robert Lee, a regular customer, expressed his sadness after hearing about the fire.
“I’ve been going to Hector’s for years! I always grab an apple or orange to go with my lunch since the stand is just down the road from the power plant where I work,” Lee said.
Community members are now rallying together to support the owners and discuss plans for rebuilding the cherished local spot.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
